Raven's Raft Press was launched in late 2004. The press produces hand-built, limited edition artist's books, with a particular emphasis in photography. Using state of the art digital capture and output, the press combines archival giclee printing with the time-honored practice of traditional bookbinding. This balance between old world craft and twenty-first century technology allows us to reflect the vision of the artists with whom we work in an intelligent and innovative context.

The press will produce only two books a year, and at this time, artist's project proposals are accepted by invitation only. As the press grows, we hope to be able to review proposals from both mid-career and emerging artists.

Serendipity can manifest itself amidst the uncertain turbulence of creation, whether it is in the form of a raft, a raven, or the auspicious intersection of each to the other. Raven's Raft believes that the enigmatic, mysterious, and ineffable nature of Beauty can serve as a guide for human creative vision. It is with this hope that we search for the juxtaposition of unforeseen and riveting connections between the cosmos and the human experience, allowing us to contemplate the universe: the universe contemplating itself.
